Ways to Volunteer

Compassion is at its finest when it is free, and you can make a difference in many simple ways. Sharing your time can be invaluable to individuals who are isolated, lonely, or unable to associate with people for a different reason. During a pandemic, isolation is a natural phenomenon that impacts the elderly significantly.

Our volunteers can sign up for a one-to-one telephone buddy program, host a social event or excursions without too much burden and connect with elders who want to feel cared for and remain connected.

• We care about safety, and we do our due diligence
• Currently, our volunteer contact is virtual and by phone; our volunteers are screened and trained volunteers for senior care
• We designate a volunteer with an elder based on need and interest
• Volunteers must register to offer their services based on their genuine desire to help elders
• Pertinent information will be shared about volunteers with our elders to ensure proper matching and establish connectivity—no obligation to accept volunteer assignments
• We recommend spending some time getting to know the helper over the phone should you choose to meet in person
• Never offer money to a volunteer, and volunteers do not accept cash from the assigned elder. It is also against the program's rules to have any money exchange
• Our volunteer program can help you share experiences, stay connected, fill a void, give back to the community
• BLR strives to connect volunteers safely and conveniently with elders in their local communities or internationally
